The short version
The Betweenly app collects no personal data and sends nothing. It makes no network requests. There are no accounts, sign-in, email addresses or profiles in the app, and no ads, analytics SDKs, third-party SDKs or tracking.
What stays on your device
Your game history—dates played, guesses made and trophies earned—is saved in one file inside the app’s own storage. It never leaves your device. Deleting the app deletes this history.
On first launch, the app generates a random identifier and stores it in the iOS Keychain. It exists only so a leaderboard could be added later. Today it is not transmitted anywhere and is not linked to any person. Keychain data may remain after the app is deleted.
What leaves your device
Nothing is sent by the app. The entire dictionary ships inside it.
Apple measures downloads and usage through the App Store and operating system and shares aggregate, anonymous figures with me. Apple measures these figures, not the app. I cannot identify anyone from them, and the app itself sends nothing.
When you visit this website, the web server records requests in access logs, including IP addresses, request times, requested URLs, referrers and user agents. Logs are scheduled to rotate daily, keeping 14 rotated files plus the current file. With daily traffic this is roughly 15 days; empty logs are not rotated, so files may remain longer during periods without traffic. Server error logs may also include request details and follow the same rotation settings.
This website sets no cookies and loads no third-party resources. It uses no analytics and uses your device’s system fonts for body text and a self-hosted font for the wordmark.
If you write to me
Your email address and whatever you include in your message are personal data. I use them to answer you, keep them no longer than needed, and never sell them or pass them on.
Children
Betweenly is rated 4+. The app collects no personal data and has no ads, purchases, messaging or links out of the game.
Changes
If the app ever starts collecting anything, I will update this page before that version ships and change the date at the top.
